Anything going on this weekend?

Doesn’t seem to be much going on this weekend other than a whole mess of zydeco/cajun bands along with The Givers playing a Haiti benefit tomorrow, Saturday the 23rd. So if you like zydeco/cajun music and/or The Givers, well, you’re in luck! They’re even ready and willing to accept donations besides the $10 entry charge. It starts at 2 PM at Parc International, which is the big stage that downtown alive usually takes place at. Have fun, kiddies.
-Apparently Sonny Landreth will be playing after 8 PM sometime, which is when the benefit is said to end. Other acts performing after the benefit includes more cajun/zydeco and a band from Haiti called Belo. If you’ve never seen or heard of Sonny Landreth, he’s basically reinventing slide guitar, and has been doing so for the past many years. He’s been all over Guitar Player magazine, and on his recent album recorded songs with Eric Clapton, Jimmy Buffet, Dr. John, etc. That’s some extremely high ranking shit, if I do say so myself. Fans of progressive guitar work will definitely be impressed.
