Fiddle me this:
Would it be possible that shows in Lafayette (and the surrounding area) would be more successful, diverse, enjoyable, entertaining, and interesting for bands and show goers if, for example:
Blue Moon Saloon booked various types of music other than old timey acoustic-based low key acts and Quintron.
Artmosphere booked bands that were loud, and had someone reliable and consistent to book for them.
Somewhere’s Else Lounge didn’t give most of the door pay to the sound guy, and wasn’t all the way out by the airport.
Caffe Cottage had a PA and more than one bartender.
The Underground Sea paid the bands, and catered to more than just mall-core, and nu-emo.
The Office booked acts other than acoustic sets and electronic music.
I do believe so. Music will only stay segregated to one or two venues if the bands, and the venue owners allow them to. A lot of bands don’t want to book at various venues for petty reasons, and a lot of venues don’t want to book certain types of bands in fear of scaring off regulars. What the venues gain in keeping their regulars, they lose in diversity. What bands gain in playing the same 2 venues, they lose in diversity. Just a thought.
