***It’s important everyone initially understands that I had to shoot out for my DJ sesh at Sadie’s immediately following Thou’s set. Iskra was several hours behind schedule due to van issues, from what I understand, and Blast Rag waited courteously for the BR bros to arrive before starting the show. This resulted in having only pictures and commentary regarding Thou. If anyone who caught the rest of the show would like to contribute, I will gladly include it here. -MB***
To everyone that caught Thou’s performance Monday night, you already know what went down. To those of you who missed it, you missed one hell of a show. Listening to Thou’s records creates a sense of mystery and awe. Online there are seemingly no traditional promotional photos, nor an abundant source of information via biography, etc. But seeing Thou live… is something that listening to them on a stereo, or headphones, or your computer just cannot re-create.
From start to finish, these guys made sure that your head was moving or your ears were bleeding. Bryan Funck and the boys pulled up ‘round 8:00 pm in a big red van and proceeded to quietly load in and set up their equipment. So quietly so, that most of the crowd was still under the impression they had not even arrived yet. But when heavily distorted chords drop tuned to the key of negative infinity erupted from within the house, the wide open living room was swamped immediately with anxious fans and dumbfounded non-believers in elbow to elbow standing arrangements. Thou began their epic set.

Thank you, Thou. You came to Lafayette with a goal in mind: to play a house show. And I’ll be good god damned if you didn’t play the absolute shit out of one. Hope you guys see the potential in Lafayette that we do, it’d be great to have you back.
