TOMORROW, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH @ CAFFE COTTAGE: The melodic female-fronted punk rock’n’roll of Blast Rag, along with Really Really. Caffe cottage always has really cheap covers, so swing by and check out one of the better (and not to mention only) punk bands in Lafayette! Members of: Guidrah, Toxikon, The Devil & The Sea, etc.
LUNDI GRAS, MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15 @ SADIE’S UPSTAIRS: $1 Night/ Underground rock DJ’d by yours truly (M. Binizzle). All realms shall be touched upon and slightly conquered. You’ll typically hear me jump from 90’s white boy indie-sque rock like Pavement, Sonic Youth, Cap’n Jazz, Dinosaur Jr, Hum, and U.S. Maple, to alienatingly heavy Trap Them, Orchid, Disfear, Thou, and Samothrace, all the way back down to off-kilter experimentalisms via Make Believe, Xiu Xiu, Lightning Bolt, Health, and Hella, and everything in between. And if I don’t have it, I can download it on the spot from Sadie’s, thought it may cost you a $1 beer or shot. Anyway, enough about myself.
PARDI GRAS, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16 @ SADIE’S: Sadie’s will open at 12:30 pm and kick off at 1:00 with an 8 band lineup ranging from funk to punk to metal. It’s free to get in all day, and until half past midnight you can enjoy $5 all you can drink high life. It’ll be cold standing in the wind during those parades, and all your going to do with those beads is:
a) give them away
b) throw them away
c) throw them in a corner of your house along with all your other clutter
so why not enjoy all the beer you can drink all day for $5 and 8 bands for no additional cost. I may be biased, but to me it sure does sound better than freezing my ass trying to catch shiny plastic necklaces.
